Procurement:
The Procurement Department is headed by a Manager Procurement who is assisted by five officers/Executives dealing in the various areas of procurement activities. The Procurement Department is responsible for procuring all materials and services for the company including raw materials for ORS manufacturing operations. The major international procurements are condoms as finished goods, machinery and raw materials for ORS. SMC has a Procurement Policy Manual approved by the board which incorporates relevant policies and regulations governing SMC’s procurement processes. Since this is a living document, modifications are being made to meet the emerging requirements and market demands. Annual budget for the Product Procurement for FY-2013 is Taka 2,325 million and Capital Procurement budget is Taka 809 million. The major responsibilities of Procurement Department are as follows:
