Following the signing of MOU last January with the Obstetrical & Gynecological Society of Bangladesh (OGSB), SMC is arranging regional planning and advocacy workshops across the country. These workshops help to keep the momentum gained from the national workshop held in March this year and materialize the goal of strengthening collaboration between the two organizations for improving the quality and effectiveness of the program in promoting long acting reversible contraceptive methods through graduate providers.
During May and June, 2015 regional planning and advocacy workshops were held in Khulna and Rajshahi respectively. Representatives from OGSB branches and central office participated in the workshops. Secretary General of OGSB Prof. Dr. Farhana Dewan and former Secretary General Prof. Parveen Fatema, SMC Managing Director Mr. Ashfaq Rahman, GM Program Mr. Toslim Uddin Khan, AOR of USAID Dr. Sukumar Sarker, representatives from EngenderHealth and local DDFP were also present in the workshops. During the open sessions, participants discussed about local barriers in promoting use and possible ways to remove misconceptions of the potential target audience, improve quality of service and increase local level awareness among potential users.
