SMC has signed an Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Obstetrical and Gynecological Society of Bangladesh (OGSB) to encourage the use of SMC branded Multiple Micronutrient Supplements (MMS) 'FullCare' and Calcium ‘Forbon’ by Obstetricians and Gynecologists (OBGYNs) during Antenatal Care (ANC) services in their private chambers. As per the MOU, OGSB will organize a total of 20 scientific seminars in their 19 branches across the country. OGSB already organized two scientific seminars, one at the Hotel Sarina in Dhaka on March 5, 2024 and other at Narayanganj on March 10, 2024.

Prof. Dr. Farhana Dewan, President, OGSB; Prof. Dr. Salma Rouf, Secretary General, OGSB; Prof. Dr. Ferdousi Begum, Immediate Past President, OGSB; Prof. Dr. Zinnat Ara Nasreen, Chairman, Scientific Sub-Committee of OGSB; Prof. Dr. Sameena Chowdhury, Past President of OGSB; Mr. Toslim Uddin Khan, MD & CEO, SMC and Mr. Sayef Uddin Nasir, MD, SMC EL along with others attended the inaugural seminar to discuss about the benefits of intaking MMS and Calcium in pregnancy. Prof. Dr. Farhana Dewan delivered insightful presentation on the benefits of MMS and Calcium, emphasizing its vital role in enhancing maternal nutrition and reducing low birth weight. She underscored the importance of prescribing these supplements by the OGSB members to boost the nutritional status of pregnant women. Mr. Khan also advocated the widespread adoption of FullCare and Forbon to prevent nutritional deficiencies during pregnancy. Other senior OGSB officials also acclaimed the positive role of SMC branded MMS and Calcium during the pregnancy.

The participants were highly satisfied to know the benefits of 15 ingredients of MMS over the IFA. They also expressed their keen interest in prescribing SMC branded MMS and Calcium and taking the lead role for its introduction in the country.
