The use of Long-acting and Permanent Method (LAPM) is comparatively lower in slum areas. The health service delivery is comparatively better in rural areas than that of the city slum areas. Therefore, SMC is implementing awareness raising campaign on LAPM targeting low-income population especially Married Women of Reproductive Age (MWRA) near Darussalam, Mirpur area since January 2022. The main objective of the campaign is to increase awareness among the potential users of LAPM and establish strong referral linkages with the nearby government and NGO health facilities. The key activities of the campaign include organizing group sessions and interpersonal communication (IPC) with the potential LAPM clients and organize advocacy meetings with local influential and other stakeholders. Four Community Mobilizers and one Community Mobilization Officer have been engaged for awareness creation and referral of potential LAPM clients to the nearest service delivery centers of GOB, NGOs and SMC. The Community Mobilizers reached 350 women through 45 courtyard sessions and 227 influential individuals of the community through seven advocacy meetings. A total of 225 clients were referred to SMC Clinic and nearest service delivery centers. Of them, 200 clients received LAPM services (i-plant-178, IUD-3, NSV-19) during January to September, 2022.
