SMC is equipped with an efficient Engineering unit that has successfully completed various multidiscipline projects since its inception in 1996. Headed by the Chief Engineer, the team started its construction journey with the 9-storied building 'SMC Tower' at Banani and afterwards completed the state-of-the-art ORS manufacturing facility at Bhaluka in 2004. Quality of works is ensured at every stage of its civil, electrical & mechanical Engineering while it follows international standard along with national standards prevailing in the country in all respect.
Amongst the other engineering establishments, the division developed production facilities, healthcare facilities, commercial office facilities and warehouse facilities for SMC and its subsidiaries as per requirements of SMC and its subsidiaries. The Division also worked with Govt. organization i.e. DNCC (Dhaka North City Corporation) for construction of Public toilet under CSR activities.The unit executes all emergency maintenance works for construction and prepares architectural/structural drawings of small extensions. Along with the internal work processes and follow up activities the division maintains several other processes like electro-mechanical facilities, risk analysis, safety issues etc. to ensure better compliance. Major external activities include NOC for land use, layout approval, construction approval, and fire safety plan approval from Fire Service and Civil Defense through a consultant etc.
Major Milestones:
- 2000: SMC Tower (9-storied commercial building with one basement) with central air conditioning system at Banani, Dhaka.
- 2004: State-of-the-art world largest ORS manufacturing facility (1st to 4th lines) in Bhaluka.
- 2008: Central warehouse at ORS factory in Bhaluka.
- 2009: Staff quarters at ORS factory in Bhaluka.
- 2014: Vertical extension of SMC Tower (9th to 19th floor) with central air conditioning system at Banani, Dhaka.
- 2015: Food and Manufacturing division (FMD) at Bhaluka as a result SMC started a new business in food and beverage sector.
- 2017: Health & Hygiene factory at Comilla as a result SMC started a new business in health and hygiene sector.
- 2017: Bus Shed, Drinking water and Toilet facilities at Farmgate area under the CSR activities of SMC.
- 2018: 8th to 12th lines of ORS manufacturing facility in Bhaluka with 1.2 billion sachet production capacity.
- 2018: Two regional area offices at Bogura and Comilla with two state-of-the-art warehouse facilities.
- 2018: Production area for biological product, MoniMix, PD and QC area as a result SMC got Biological License and started pharmaceuticals production.
- 2021: SMC Tower 2, 15-storied commercial and SMC Clinic building with 3 basements at Mirpur, Dhaka.
- 2023: Expansion of Food Manufacturing Division (FMD) including RM and FG warehouse at Bhaluka, Mymensingh.
- 2023: Cumilla Health and Hygiene Factory expansion project having storage area of 14,500 sft in the 2nd floor

- State of the art FMCG (Fast-moving consumer goods) factory at Bhabanipur so that SMC EL expands its business and to meet the growing need of FMCG products
