SMC observed 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence

 

As a part of the global campaign, SMC observed the ‘16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence.’ The event activities were started to commemorate the ‘International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (VAW)’ at 93 SMC operated community mobilization upazilas from November 25 to December 10, 2021. The campaign was implemented through four implementing partners to raise awareness for the prevention and elimination of violence against women and girls. SMC arranged four orientation sessions on VAW for the implementing partner organizations for implementation of the Activism against Gender-Based Violence program. The partners organized 1,562 courtyard sessions with Married Women of Reproductive Age, 68 sessions with adolescents, and 17 sessions with the Gold Star Members by which they reached a total of 20,075 participants to address the issue. Representatives from the relevant local government officials also attended the campaign and the news of the event was covered by the local media.
